Malvern residence - Joyne Studio
Stonework : Pazzi Marble & Granite | Interior Design: Randco Design Studio | Stone Supply : CDK Stone
This Malvern residence is a study in layered materiality - a home where quartzite and marble are composed with discipline, clarity, and architectural intent. Across kitchen, dining, staircase, and feature elements, the Pazzi team delivered a series of precisely fabricated applications that balance bold expression with structural refinement.
From honed Montallini quartzite to sculptural Calacatta Viola and Rosso Levanto accents, each material was selected not only for its visual strength, but for how it anchors and articulates space.
The arrival - steps, rangehood & bar bench
The entry sequence sets the tone.
Clad in Montallini quartzite (20mm honed), the steps, rangehood, and bar bench introduce a restrained yet confident material language. The soft, organic movement of the quartzite carries through each element, unified by disciplined detailing.
Mitred edges and shark-nose profiles refine the stone’s thickness, allowing it to read as architectural mass rather than surface finish. The result is a cohesive introduction - robust yet understated.
Dining & island - a continuous dialogue
The dining and island benchtops continue the Montallini narrative.
Spanning large planes with mitred edges and flat profiles, the stone flows seamlessly across entertaining zones. The extended linearity emphasises proportion and calm, allowing the quartzite’s natural variation to animate the space without overwhelming it.
This is not stone used for spectacle.
It is stone used for structure.
Kitchen composition - precision in detail
Within the kitchen, Montallini quartzite defines benchtops, splashbacks, and shelving with disciplined repetition.
Unfinished splashback edges introduce a subtle rawness, contrasting with the precision of mitred returns and square profiles. A 60mm mitred square edge detail strengthens the island’s presence, grounding it within the joinery.
Each transition is deliberate. Each junction resolved.
The effect is continuity - stone integrated into architecture rather than layered upon it.
Front room plinth - Glacier Grey as anchor
In the formal front room, Glacier Grey dolomite introduces a cooler counterpoint.
Honed and mitred, the plinth reads as architectural base rather than ornament. Its subdued tone provides quiet stability, reinforcing the home’s balanced material hierarchy.
Communal table - Calacatta Viola as artful contrast
The communal table becomes a moment of sculptural drama.
Crafted in Calacatta Viola (20mm honed), its bold burgundy veining cuts through a creamy base with deliberate intensity. Square edges with subtle aris detailing refine the slab without diminishing its natural character.
Here, stone becomes both gathering point and artwork - expressive yet controlled.
Kitchenette - Rosso Levanto precision
In the secondary kitchenette, Rosso Levanto marble introduces depth and warmth.
Unfinished splashback edges maintain textural honesty, while square edges ensure crisp termination. The deep red tones enrich the interior palette, offering contrast without disrupting continuity.
Floating vanity plinth — Breccia Pernice refinement
The floating vanity plinth in Breccia Pernice (20mm honed) adds sculptural subtlety.
Mitred edges sharpen the silhouette, allowing the marble’s movement to remain the focal point. The floating form introduces lightness while maintaining structural integrity.
Island & dining legs - structural expression
Quartz Sophia quartzite forms the island and dining table legs, fabricated in polished 20mm with extensive mitred detailing.
These vertical elements reinforce the home’s architectural rhythm. The precision of the mitres and alignment across 43 metres of edge work reflects disciplined craftsmanship at scale.
This is structural stone - not decorative support, but integrated architecture.
Crafting cohesion
Across every phase of this residence, the unifying thread is precision.
Mitred edges. Shark-nose profiles. Unfinished splashbacks. Square aris details. Each element carefully resolved to balance expression and restraint.
The home does not rely on a single hero slab. Instead, it achieves strength through continuity and control - layering quartzite and marble with architectural intelligence.
This project reflects Pazzi’s commitment to compositional clarity.
Stone not as surface, but as structure.
