We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead our workshop operations in Mulgrave, Melbourne.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Shop Foreman who leads by example in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Purpose

Lead the shop floor team in delivering high-quality stonework with efficiency, craftsmanship, and a focus on safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shop floor operations, including task allocation, workflow coordination, and rigorous quality control for stonemasonry projects (cutting, polishing, assembly)
  • Manage and coach a team of 10+ stonemasons, machine operators, labourers, warehouse staff and apprentices, providing hands-on guidance, performance feedback, and skill development.
  • Ensure full compliance with WHS regulations, conducting risk assessments, equipment maintenance, toolbox talks, and incident reporting.
  • Coordinate with procurement and project teams to maintain material stock levels and achieve production deadlines.
  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, implementing practical process improvements to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Monitor and report on production metrics (e.g., on-time completion, defect rates) to the Operations Manager, flagging variances promptly.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Trade qualification in Stonemasonry 
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing stonework.
  • Proficiency in operating stone working machinery (e.g., saws, CNC machines, polishers) and hand tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management in a workshop environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, including coaching, feedback, and conflict resolution.
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and inventory
  • Valid work permit in Australia 
  • Valid driver's license and forklift certification (highly regarded).
