Pazzi Christmas Party 2025

Roaring 1920s Murder Mystery at Candela Nuevo

To close out another huge year of stone, saws and site visits, the Pazzi Marble & Granite team stepped out of the factory and straight into the Roaring 1920s.

For one night only, we traded work boots for wingtip shoes, hi-vis for flapper dresses, and tape measures for martinis at a private murder mystery dinner at Candela Nuevo in the heart of Melbourne.

The theme?

Jazz. Intrigue. Secrets. One “crime” to solve.

Setting the Scene: From Slab Yard to Speakeasy

Candela Nuevo gave us everything we wanted for the night –

moody lighting, polished interiors, city views and just enough old-world glamour to feel like we’d walked into a hidden speakeasy.

Guests arrived as their 1920s alter-egos:

  • Flapper dresses, pearls and feather headbands
  • Sharp suits, suspenders and pocket watches
  • Dark lipstick, slicked-back hair and just the right amount of mischief

Seeing the whole Pazzi crew transformed from stonemasons, drafters, office staff and installers into gangsters, jazz-age socialites and mysterious strangers set the tone immediately:

This wasn’t just a dinner. It was a story we were all stepping into.

The Night Unfolds

6:00pm – Arrival, Welcome Drinks & Introductions

The evening kicked off with welcome drinks and cocktails as everyone arrived at the private Candela Nuevo space.

Glasses in hand, the team settled into character while the professional hosts introduced the plot:

  • The year: somewhere in the late 1920s
  • The place: an exclusive, invitation-only party
  • The problem: a shocking “murder” has taken place… and someone in the room is responsible

Each person received a character brief with secrets, motives and goals. From that moment on, every conversation was part social, part investigation.

Was your quiet colleague suddenly a suspicious bootlegger?

Was that charming “heiress” hiding something?

Was the innocent act really just that – an act?

You could feel the energy lift as people leaned into their roles.

7:00pm – Dinner and the Mystery Begins

As the first courses were served, the murder mystery officially began.

Between bites, new clues were revealed. Characters whispered in corners, swapped information and occasionally pointed fingers across the table. Laughter and mock outrage filled the room as the story unfolded:

  • Alibis were tested
  • Hidden connections came to light
  • A few very dramatic “confessions” were made (and then immediately denied)

The hosts guided everyone through each chapter of the evening, dropping hints and twists at just the right moments. It didn’t take long to discover that some of our most reserved team members had a serious flair for dramatic performance.

The best part?

People from different parts of the business – workshop, office, site – ended up plotting together, accusing one another and building alliances in a way that just doesn’t happen in a normal workday.

The Big Reveal

By the time dessert arrived, theories were flying.

  • Entire tables had worked themselves into detective mode
  • Some were absolutely convinced they’d cracked the case
  • Others were just hoping they weren’t about to be named as the culprit

Finally, the hosts drew the story to a close and revealed:

  • Who did it
  • Why they did it
  • Which clues everyone had missed along the way

Cue: cheers, gasps, laughter, and a lot of “I knew it!” from people who absolutely did not know it.

It was the perfect balance of light-hearted fun and genuinely clever storytelling.

9:00pm – Rooftop Drinks & City Views

With the mystery solved and justice (more or less) served, we moved to the rooftop at Candela Nuevo.

The mood shifted from intrigue to celebration.

The city lights, fresh air and relaxed setting gave everyone space to:

  • Decompress after two hours of in-character chaos
  • Swap favourite moments from the night (“Your accent was… unforgettable”)
  • Take photos in full 1920s outfits with the skyline as a backdrop

For a team that spends most of the year in factories, on site and in showrooms, standing together above the city – dressed to the nines – felt like a well-earned exhale.

Why Nights Like This Matter to Us

On paper, it’s a Christmas party.

In reality, it’s much more than that.

Nights like this are about:

  • Celebrating the people behind every Pazzi project – the planners, polishers, lifters, problem-solvers and perfectionists
  • Connecting across departments in a way that emails and job sheets can’t do
  • Marking the end of a big year of work, deadlines, installs, early starts and late finishes

We ask a lot from our team: precision, patience and pride in every detail.

It feels only right that, at the end of the year, we create a space where they can switch off, have fun and be part of a story that isn’t about stone for a change.

A Huge Thank You

To everyone who:

  • Dressed up
  • Committed to their character
  • Threw themselves into the mystery
  • Helped organise, coordinate and make the night run seamlessly

Thank you.

You’re the reason Pazzi feels less like a workplace and more like a crew.

And to our clients, collaborators and friends of the brand: this is a glimpse of the energy behind the scenes – the same team that treats your stone with respect, care and craft also knows how to bring a little theatre to the end of the year.

Here’s to:

  • More beautiful projects in 2026
  • More moments to celebrate together
  • And many more stories – on stone and off – still to come
